Police say a daylong standoff at a Selden home ended in a murder-suicide Tuesday night.
Police say Sean Murphy barricaded himself inside the home with his estranged wife, Linda Murphy, Tuesday afternoon. It all started when they got a call from an acquaintance of the wife who feared she might be in danger. Police and SWAT teams descended on the home and blocked off the surrounding area for hours.
Police say the standoff was probably the result of some sort of domestic dispute. They confirmed the two individuals inside the home were dead around 8:30 or 9 p.m. Authorities say Murphy killed himself with a shotgun and apparently killed his wife as well.
Officials say Linda Murphy had filed an order of protection against her husband.
