On the seventh anniversary of the Columbine H.S. shooting, security was tighter at some Long Island schools because of several threats and rumors.
At Brentwood High School, police are patrolling the schools amid an e-mail threat about a major shooting by the gang MS 13. The schools superintendent believes the threats about a shooting are just rumors, he says they are not taking it lightly. Rumors also circulated on the Internet about a Columbine-like attack at Longwood High School in Middle Island.
Most students, while aware of the threats, say they were not worried about a shooting. But many said they were happy to see extra patrol cars at their school.
