Section XI reaches new deal with referees, fall sports will begin next week

The high school sports season in Suffolk County will begin on time thanks to a new contract deal between Section XI and its referees.

Section XI's Executive Director Tom Combs tells News 12 that a new deal was ratified Wednesday night.

As News 12 has reported, the two sides were at a deadlock for months leading to the possibility that the start of fall sports would need to be pushed back.

The referees in all sports will now get an increase in pay per game.
