A search is underway for two teens who left a youth home group during an outing in Bayville.
Nassau police say the boys were last seen Friday while visiting Bayville Scream Park with a group from a Brooklyn youth home.
Police were notified around 9:30 p.m. that the boys were unaccounted for, and a search remains ongoing.
Residents say it’s concerning to have missing kids in the area, and they’re worried about the kids’ safety, especially with nights getting so cold.
“We always feel very safe, and to hear something like this happened here, it’s alarming, especially that there’s kids involved,” said one Glen Cove resident.
“As a father of two, to hear that children go missing, I can only sympathize with their parents and their loved ones who are searching for them. So it's really disheartening,” said Robert Smallwood, of Huntington.
Community posts on Facebook say residents saw helicopters in the air and police in the streets with flashlights looking for the teens.
Police say they are still actively searching for them
