Students at Seaford Manor Elementary School are helping to spread awareness about cancer and its toll on survivors and their families.

For the past several weeks, they have been handwriting letters to those impacted by the disease. Each letter contains heartfelt messages to survivors on how their courage and bravery are an inspiration to others.

"It makes me feel really happy to know that I'm going to make someone who is having a difficult time in their lives feel better because I wrote something to them," says fifth grader, Graciella Dimola.

So far, Seaford Manor Elementary School has mailed out more than 400 letters to those impacted by cancer.

The school hopes to surpass last year's goal of 1,000 letters through its Seaford Smiles Campaign.
