A Nassau baseball field now bears the name of a beloved Hempstead Town Councilman.

The diamond at Seamans Neck Park in Seaford was dedicated to Councilman Chris Carini on Sunday.

Carini died unexpectedly in July of last year, after serving two decades in law enforcement and then being elected to town council.

His wife, Danielle, and son, Joe, tell News 12 the tribute is perfect for their family.

Danielle says Chris loved the community and the Seaford Little League.

His son has been playing since he was 5 years old and says he is so happy they did this for his dad.

The little league played an exhibition game on the field right after the ceremony.
