School officials: Student riding bike struck at East Rockaway school, airlifted to hospital

Police say the 12-year-old boy is in serious condition.

A 12-year-old boy was hit by a minivan while riding his bike in East Rockaway, school officials say.
News 12 is told the boy ended up being airlifted to Cohen Children's Medical Center.
It was the boy's last day of school, according to authorities.
Police say the driver of the minivan, a 54-year-old woman, remained at the scene.
School officials sent out a notice confirming that a student riding their bike on the East Rockaway Junior/Senior High School campus was struck by a vehicle. They said the situation was "under control" and that his parents were notified.
Police say the boy suffered internal bleeding and multiple abrasions to his hand and face. He is in stable condition.
