Scholar Athlete: Gabriella Asare, Brentwood High School
This week's Scholar Athlete is Gabriella Asare, of Brentwood High School.

Gabriella is an All-County and All-State hurdler and a county champion in the 100-meter hurdles. She qualified for the indoor and outdoor state championships. She's also earned All-County honors on the 4 x 400-meter relay team.
She's a member of the Medical Honor Society and is a certified nursing assistant. She wants to be a pediatric nurse in the future and will study at St. John's University.
Gabriella is also in the Athletes Helping Athletes Club and a Town of Islip Unity Ambassador. The Unity team helps promote diversity and inclusion in school districts across Long Island. She has a 91 unweighted GPA.
