Andrew Jennette wanted to play volleyball in middle school, but there was no school team. So, Andrew and his friends created one. Five years later, volleyball is now a varsity sport at Oyster Bay High School, with winning records the past two years.

"Every team that I like to be a part of is close-knit, volleyball especially. No one person can run the show out there," said Andrew. "It creates a brotherhood on the court."

Andew is the leader of that brotherhood. He is the Baymen's captain and an All-Conference player. He was also selected for the Long Island volleyball All-Star game.

The 6-foot-8-inch senior is also an all-conference champion in track, specializing in the hurdles, high jump and long jump. His personal best in the high jump is 5 feet, 10 inches.

"It's just great. You land and it's just a celebration. Most of the times, those are big moments, like in county championships. You come down and you're like on top of the world," said Andrew when asked what a "perfect" jump feels like.

He is also the robotics team captain and led that team to the LI championship. He's in the coding club, the Honor Society and has a 93 unweighted GPA.
