A lawsuit is being filed against a proposed lithium-ion battery storage facility in Holtsville.
The Sachem Central School District is suing the plant's developer and the state Public Service Commission.
It claims the agency approved a certificate for the plant, despite findings that the facilities "pose significant dangers."
The storage site on Morris Avenue would be within a mile of three Sachem schools.
Residents say they are worried about fires at the facility.
The PSC says it does not comment on pending litigation.
News 12 reached out to the developer and have not heard back.
