The Sachem Central School District announced that it will ban quizzes about sex, politics or mental health without parental approval.
It's in response to outrage after some 10th graders were surveyed about sex, gender and body image in February.
As News 12 has previously reported, the Board of Education says the quiz was anonymous and optional to identify at-risk behavior.
The district refused again to name the teacher who handed it out, despite demands from parents.
Students came to his defense on Wednesday night, and 200 students signed a petition in support of the survey.
It will be pulled for the rest of the year for review.
