Route 46 West reopens following dump truck crash at Fairfield bridge

Route 46 West was shut down in Fairfield after a dump truck with its body elevated struck the Hollywood Avenue overpass.

Initial reports suggested the bridge may have shifted, but NJDOT has confirmed that this did not happen.

The driver was stuck inside the vehicle after it lifted upon impact, but no serious injuries were reported.

Route 46 West was closed from Two Bridges Road to the Hollywood Avenue overpass as a precaution while crews inspected the underside of the bridge.

The road reopened around 6 a.m.
