'Rooting out hunger' initiative aims to feed 1,000 local families

Pronto of Long Island and All Deposits of Long Island, a bottle redemption center, are working with Brentwood students on an initiative to feed 1,000 local families.

Pronto of Long Island distributes food to families in need — a need which has been soaring.

CEO Keith Scott says Pronto feeds 100,000 families each year, and he expects that number to increase by 15 to 20% next year.

Pronto and All Deposits of Long Island, a bottle redemption center, are working with Brentwood students on an initiative, called "Rooting out hunger," to feed hundreds of local families.

The money for the meals will be collected bottle by bottle, nickel by nickel.
