A pit bull is still on the loose a week after it attacked a Ronkonkoma woman. Shannon Merry says a brown pit bull came out of nowhere and attacked her last week when she was walking home from the store. She says she screamed for help, but no one came to her aid. When the dog let go, she was able to walk home, where her boyfriend's mother called 911. A week later, Merry's arm is still swollen and bruised. She also had to get three staples in her head after the attack. Police say they canvassed the area but didn't find the dog. Town of Islip Animal Control is still on the lookout. Residents told News 12 Long Island they didn't know about the incident. Many said they were upset that nobody informed them that a pit bull is on the loose.
