A Rockville Centre native who always dreamed of playing a gig at Jones Beach has strummed her way onto the Zac Brown Band ticket as the opening act.

Ellis Melillo, a graduate of South Side High School, says singing at Jones Beach has been her dream since she was a little girl.

About three years ago, Melillo decided to go for it and emailed Zac Brown himself, asking him to listen to her songs."

"He was like email me and I never thought he'd actually listen to it, but he did and we ended up making a whole album," says Melillo.

This weekend she will take the stage to open for the country music star.
