Federal funding is headed to the Hudson Valley to support road improvements and transportation projects across the region. The $33 million investment was announced in Clarkstown by Rep. Mike Lawler.

Orangetown officials said the money will allow them to finish a project that stalled when earlier funding ran out. Supervisor Teresa Kenny said the effort is about 70% complete and will improve safety for pedestrians and drivers.

Local leaders from nearby communities also noted the regional benefit. Suffern Mayor Mike Curley said his community would welcome additional support.

Officials said the funding was approved through one of 12 appropriation bills.
