A Riverhead barber was formally charged Tuesday for allegedly attempting to sexually abuse a child.
Suffolk District Attorney Ray Tierney says Hilario Hernandez De La Cruz attempted to touch an 11-year-old boy while his father was getting a haircut.
Police say it happened earlier this month at Larry's Barber Shop.
They say Hernandez De La Cruz also offered the child $600 to engage in a sexual act.
Hernandez De La Cruz is due back in court in August and faces up to 15 years in prison.
The boy's father was also arrested and charged with endangering the welfare of a child.
