Rikers Island prison guard from Long Island accused of accepting nearly $10,000 in bribes

The district attorney’s office says Krystle Burrell accepted almost $10,000 worth of bribes to smuggle two cellphones to a prisoner.

A Rikers Island jail guard from Nassau County is charged in a bribery conspiracy case.
The district attorney’s office says Krystle Burrell accepted almost $10,000 worth of bribes to smuggle two cellphones to a prisoner associated with the Bloods gang.
Prosecutors accuse Burrell of having a romantic relationship with the inmate.
Burrell faces five years in prison if convicted.
