A Ridge man who allegedly sexually abused foster children in his care was arraigned on a 17-count indictment Friday.
Prosecutors say Cesar Gonzalez-Muguburu, 55, sexually abused victims aged from 8 to 20 years old. He also allegedly performed sexual acts with a dog in front of some of them.
District Attorney Tom Spota called Muguburu's Ridge home "a house of horrors" where children were also allegedly starved and physically punished in addition to the sexual abuse.
Spota said that a Brentwood-based nonprofit, St. Christopher of Ottile, placed around 140 foster children in Muguburu's care over the years, even though the first complaint against him was made as early as 1998.
Spota said an investigation into the charity is warranted. Charity officials told News 12 they are cooperating with officials.
If convicted on all of the charges, Muguburu would face a maximum of 50 years in prison.
Suffolk Chief of Detectives Gerard Gigante called on additional victims to come forward.
