Family and friends are mourning the loss of a livery cab driver shot and killed while on the job early Tuesday morning.
Police say 49-year-old Maoudo Kane was found unconscious in the front yard of a home on Hunter Avenue.
While he had his wallet on him, he did not have his cellphone and his cab was nowhere to be found. Investigators were able to track down the car near Yankee Stadium later in the day.
Kane lived in Melrose with his brother, who says that Kane's wife and son are still back in their native Senegal, Africa.
The New York State Federation of Taxi Drivers is offering a $5,000 reward for any information leading to an arrest in this case.
