A Long Beach man rode his bike for 24 hours straight on the boardwalk to raise money for homeless veterans.
Rob Carlo started his 24-hour ride at 6 p.m. Thursday and finished Friday at 6 p.m.
The ride raised money for the nonprofit New Ground Inc., which provides assistance to veterans and families facing homelessness.
Carlo is a retired FDNY firefighter who worked on Sept. 11 and says he started the fundraiser a few years ago to give back.
"I just wanted to do something special for my birthday and it turned into a fundraiser and found this nonprofit that hey if I can help some veterans that need some help why not."
Carlo has already raised more than $25,000.
