Local restaurants and bars came together Monday to raise money for the 84 fire departments and the 20 EMS units that worked around the clock to fight the East End brush fires back in March.

As part of "LI Wings It Forward," 20% of the proceeds raised through wing sales go to raise money for first responders who fought to contain last month's brush fires.

About 70 restaurants and bars across Long Island took part in Monday night's fundraiser.

"Although we participate in a lot of fundraisers this one hit close to home. I know many people who live out east, so our restaurant wanted to make sure show our gratitude to the first responders who fought the wildfires," explained Lisa Sarrapede, of Lily's Babylon.

Organizers hoped to raise over $10,000 at the fundraiser.
