A pair of condos in Hauppauge that were destroyed in a fire over the summer are expected to be demolished.
The town board will vote on a resolution to authorize the demolition at its Jan. 2 meeting. The board will also request bids from contractors to complete the work.
The condos went up in flames on July 26. Two fire-damaged units have remained in a state of disrepair. Neighbors say they’ve become a haven for rodents.
One unit is bank-owned. The other is owned by someone who has not done any work to fix the property.
The structures should come down in about six weeks, according to Smithtown Town Supervisor Ed Wehrheim.
