Medford residents and lawmakers met Wednesday to discuss ways to make a dangerous road safer for travel.
Residents say several accidents have occurred on Woodside Avenue between Route 112 and Sills Road over the years. Speeding is the most common cause of accident on the 45 mph roadway. Michael Grandinetti knows this all too well. His son, Joey, was 20 years old when he died in a motorcycle accident in October 2006. Grandinetti believes something must be done to prevent further tragedy.
While some support the plan to reduce the amount of lanes from five to three, others believe increased police enforcement would do the trick. Another idea is to install traffic lights at every intersection. Suffolk lawmakers plan on sending a letter to constituents before making a decision.
