Police locked down Freeport High School for 45 minutes Friday after receiving a report that a student was brandishing a weapon in the hallways.
School officials say they called police after hearing that a student was roaming the halls with a gun. Police found the teen in question, but say that he was no longer armed. The teen told authorities he had passed a knife to another student, who was then found and the weapon confiscated.
Police say the knife was small and not illegal outside the confines of the school. However, school officials say no weapon is allowed inside the building and that both students will face disciplinary action.
