Deadly crashes involving teens spike between Memorial Day and Labor Day, according to AAA.
Robert Sinclair, a spokesman for AAA, calls the summer season “the 100 deadliest days.”
He says teens die or kill others on the roadways for several reasons: Inexperience behind the wheel, speeding, not wearing seatbelts, driving while impaired and distracted driving.
“More than 1,000 nationwide are killed during that time period,” Sinclair told News 12.
AAA says most teen fatalities occur between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m.
