A drag performance at a North Shore high school is drawing disapproval from Rep. George Santos.
The act took place at a Great Neck North High School talent show.
Santos told News 12 he believes drag is not age-appropriate and should not be in schools.
Students and parents in attendance say the congressman is taking the video out of context.
"Everyone was in tears, choked up and felt the love in the room," said Alexandra Roubeni, a parent from Great Neck. "And that's what it was all about. It was about a student expressing himself."
Great Neck Board of Education President Rebecca Sassouni says Santos has blown the situation of proportion. Meantime, the students will continue to run the school talent shows in the future.
