Shari-Anne Williams says a rat infestation started around six years ago in her Morris Heights apartment.

"My 6-year-old has rashes from the urine and my daughter she been bitten several times," said Williams.

The mother of four says she can't store anything in her cabinets and said she had to empty her bedroom and is now sleeping on the couch.

"We can't stock food.. we can't leave anything out," said Williams.

She says she was forced to throw away new clothes for her kids after the rats got to them, but that's not what she's most upset about.

Williams lost her brother about three years ago, and the rats got into the keepsakes she had of him.

"I've lost keepsakes that I can never get back," she says.

News 12 reached out to management, and it responded saying it is doing what it can to help, and it sent contractors and exterminators to her apartment. Williams said it's not enough.

"I am very frustrated.. I'm pulling my hair out.. I can't eat," she says.
