Approximately 400 animals were seized from a home in Bellmore Tuesday morning as part of a raid conducted by the Nassau District Attorney's Office and the Nassau SPCA.
The animals inside the home at 112 Ocean Ave. included turtles, birds, cats and dogs.
The raid was conducted after authorities received multiple complaints from neighbors.
News 12 Long Island first reported about the home last August, when the Nassau SPCA gave homeowner Gary Gruber 24 hours to clean up the mess inside his house or face arrest. At the time, SPCA investigators said some of the animals were illegal and all were living in deplorable conditions.
Gary Roberts, of the Nassau SPCA, says the animals inside the home had a lack of fresh water available to them.
Investigators say Gruber could face charges.
