A family issued an urgent plea for help after their loved one was fatally struck by a hit-and-run driver.
Frank DeStefano says police are still looking for the driver who hit and killed his uncle, Ron DeStefano, last month in Stony Brook.
"Some days are tougher than others. We really don't have any answers," says Frank DeStefano. "It's a little different than if it passed and you get to say goodbye, but we didn't."
Frank says Ron was walking to work early in the morning on Dec. 20 when a car hit him as he crossed Route 347 near Hallock Road. Police say the 54-year-old Lake Grove man died at the scene.
Frank says his uncle was one of the funniest people he ever met, and that he could make everyone in the room laugh.
More than a month later, Ron's family is still grieving and hoping the driver comes forward. They say they still have unanswered questions.
"This person getting arrested and getting indicted in court will never bring my uncle back. But this person, whoever he or she is, will have to answer," says Frank.
Police say they believe it was a silver car that hit Ron, and it probably had front-end damage. They're offering a cash reward for information that leads to an arrest.
