Lauren Tirado is a natural behind the wheel.

She holds the title "Queen of the Track" after winning that distinction from one of her many victorious races.

“I’ve always loved speed," she says.

Tirado has taken that love of speed to the track in Calverton, where she’s won almost every race she’s taken part in. She says she lost just one.

Her opponents include her husband.

The track is called “Race Track Not Street.”

Pete Scalzo, the track's promoter, described Tirado as “a great racer” who’s fun to watch.

Tirado, a mom of three from Bayport, has earned some street credit with her Patchogue-Medford students.

She says students have come to watch her race and some have even participated themselves after they graduated.
