A Putnam County Deputy Sheriff faced a judge on Tuesday in connection with an incident in February.

Kevin Osik, 43, is a veteran with the sheriff's office. He was arrested in connection with a past domestic incident at his house in the Town of Carmel.

Police say at the time he was charged with assault and harassment.

The judge dismissed the harassment charge at Tuesday's hearing at the request of the Dutchess County District Attorney’s Office, which took over the case after the Putnam County DA stepped aside.

The judge also agreed to allow Osika to be able to see his children.

Osika remains suspended from his job but is now being paid pending the outcome of this case.

News 12 spoke with Osika's attorneys, who say they're happy with the outcome. Osika maintains his innocence.

He is scheduled to be back in court on June 16.
