PSEG is telling residents that the next time their power goes out, it will have the lights on faster than LIPA.

PSEG Long Island will take over from LIPA Jan. 1.



The utility tells Newsday it has a better phone and computer system to handle to outages.

PSEG also promises a better tree-trimming program to prevent outages.



After Superstorm Sandy last year, PSEG restored twice the number of outages in New Jersey as LIPA did on Long Island in less time.
