Long Island's new power operator geared up to face the first test of its storm capabilties after last night's storm, but the utility says it only faced small pockets of power outages.

PSEG Long Island says most power lines survived the whipping winds. It also helped that the snow was light and dry, instead of wet and heavy.

At the storm's peak, 822 customers lost power.

Most of the outages were scattered, including areas in Garden City, Glen Cove, Lindenhurst and South Valley Stream. PSEG says almost all of the affected customers had their service restored by 9 a.m.
