New details emerged Saturday during the arraignment for a Lindenhurst man charged with murder in the stabbing death of a CVS employee.

According to court documents, John Pilaccio, 43, entered the store in Lindenhurst just before 7 p.m. Thursday and attacked 23-year-old Edeedson Cine during an attempted robbery. He was rushed to a hospital with a chest wound and pronounced dead within an hour of the stabbing.

His brother told News 12 that Cine had been filling in for a friend’s shift the night of the attack.

Prosecutors say Pilaccio confessed to killing Cine, and revealed he was motivated by money. He told authorities that he was in debt.

Prosecutors say Pilaccio voluntarily went with law enforcement who arrived at his Palm Street home in Lindenhurst.

Pilaccio’s attorney entered a not guilty plea. He is being held without bail and is due back in court on Wednesday.
