A Central Islip man has been formally charged for fatally shooting a 19-year-old Bay Shore resident during an attempted robbery over a year ago.

Prosecutors say Erick Garcia shot Carlos Guillen in October 2022.

Garcia was arrested a month later in connection to an unrelated case, according to authorities. He was not charged with Guillen’s murder until recently.
