A Jackson Township man accused of a stabbing in Toms River is facing numerous charges, including murder and attempted murder.

The Ocean County Prosecutors Office says police responded to a home on Adams Avenue after receiving a report about an altercation on May 9.

Upon arrival, they found 34-year-old Raniek Mendez with a stab wound to his chest. He was later pronounced dead.

Police say 30-year-old Roderick Seward was also stabbed at the residence.

He was hospitalized and treated for injuries that are not considered life-threatening.

Authorities say they identified and pursued a vehicle that fled the scene of the crime.

Steven McNeil, 32, was arrested after initially refusing commands to pull over.

Other charges against him include possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, unlawful possession of a weapon, being a certain person not to possess a weapon, and eluding.

Police say he is being held without bail.
