Local developers are looking to get smiley face feedback and approval to build a hotel on the property of the former Boardy Barn site in Hampton Bays.

The proposal to build a 68-unit hotel was discussed at a March Hampton Bays Civic Association meeting.

Rob Salvatico, owner of Hotel Indigo and Riverhead Holiday Inn Express, wants to build a "Hampton-style" hotel on the former Boardy Barn property, which is currently known and operated as the Barnyard. He wants to hear feedback on his vision.

Local developers say a zoning change would be necessary to advance this proposed project. The property is in a Highway Business Zoning District and does not currently allow hotels. The Southampton Town Board would need to approve this change.
