Two of Long Island's biggest malls could be getting bigger.

A proposed law would allow Green Acres Mall in Valley Stream and Roosevelt Field Mall in Garden City to expand by a little more than 3.5 million square feet of floor area and to reach a maximum building height of 75 feet.

After extensive environmental studies, Chief Deputy Town Attorney Charles Kovit says the proposal would not increase traffic or change the character of the area.

Roosevelt Field's owners say they just want to build a new Neiman Marcus.

There is no time frame for when the Hempstead Town Board will vote on the proposal.
