Pronto of Long Island feeds more than 100,000 Long Islanders each year, and as food insecurity continues to grow amid rising costs across the board, donations like the one Zwanger-Pesiri Radiology made to the nonprofit on Monday — 3,000 pounds of meat — are priceless.
“The most wonderful thing is to be able to give to other people, help other people," says Dr. Steven Mendelsohn, of Zwanger-Pesiri Radiology."
He said he hopes to be able to continue to do so.
Keith Scott, president and CEO of Pronto of Long Island, said desperation “is at an all-time high.”
He said people are afraid, worrying about rising costs and job uncertainty. He said the donation from Zwanger will help Pronto to feed 1,000 families.
