It's Primary Day Tuesday on Long Island and across the state with some key races, including who will be the choice for governor on both the Democratic and Republican tickets.

Gov. Kathy Hochul and her running mate Lt. Gov. Antonio Delgado are making their final pleas to voters. Although they campaign together they won't be listed on the ballot together because in New York lieutenant governors are elected separate from the governor.

The gubernatorial choices for governor on the Republican ticket include Rob Astorino, Andrew Giuliani, Harry Wilson and Rep. Lee Zeldin. For the Democrats it's Gov. Hochul, Rep. Tom Suozzi and Public Advocate Jumaane Williams.

In the lieutenant governor's race, there is one Republican candidate -- Alison Esposito. For the Democrats, there are three people on the ballot -- Delgado, Ana Maria Archila and Diana Reyna.

The race for governor may be at the top of the ballot but political analyst Larry Levy says the outcome of all the races will have lasting implications for both parties.

"The suburbs are really important, probably more so in terms of volume for the Republicans because you have proportionally more Republicans on Long Island than you do in other parts of the state. But for Democrats, particularly if it's a close race, the suburbs are important."

The Suffolk County clerk race is between the current county clerk and the current Smithtown clerk. There's also a race to see who the Republican candidate will be to challenge longtime Assemblyman Steve Englebright.
