Mineola's suspended school superintendent, Michael Nagler, has now resigned

Nagler's resignation and retirement were announced at a school board meeting Thursday night. Deputy Superintendent Catherine Fishman was voted in as the interim superintendent.

As previously reported, the board suspended Nagler without pay after an investigation into a controversial grading program. The system called 'Build Your Own Grade' is part of a company founded by Nagler and his son. The program began at the beginning of the school year, but was suspended in October following disapproval from parents.

The lawyers for the district found Nagler had violated the board of ethics in his contract.

Officials at the meeting said that Nagler has agreed to delete any data associated with the program so that it cannot be retrieved.

Nagler will be paid through July.
