Final preparations are underway for the Bethpage Air Show at Jones Beach.
Performers are taking off and landing at Republic Airport in Farmingdale, where aviation enthusiasts are getting a first glimpse at the planes taking part in the show.
Spectators can see a TBM Avenger, the same type of plane flown by former President George H. W. Bush when he was shot down in the Pacific during World War II. The plane that will be flown in the air show was autographed by President Bush in 2009.
The air show will also feature the A-10 Warthog, which was designed and developed on Long Island. This year will be the last chance to see the A-10 Warthog in person, before it’s removed from the military’s inventory.
