Stormy weather wreaked havoc across Long Island Wednesday morning.
The powerful 50 mph winds and heavy rain caused trees to topple and knocked down power lines across the Island.
In Bay Shore, the Mayott family managed to escape unscathed after a tree crashed through their roof. Christina Mayott says the tree narrowly missed her children?s bedroom.A few blocks away, a giant evergreen tree on Barbara Fuchs ? property ended up across her front lawn. She says she?s just glad it didn?t hit the house. Also in Bay Shore, Anastasia McDonald says a tree destroyed her shed.
LIRR crossing gates snapped under the pressure of the winds in several communities while trees crushed cars and roofs.
