Poughkeepsie police search for suspects in shooting and stabbing incidents

Police say they received a call reporting gunfire near the intersection of Virginia Avenue and Forbus streets at around 1 a.m.

A man took himself to a hospital Thursday after being shot in the back in Poughkeepsie.

Police say they received a call reporting gunfire near the intersection of Virginia Avenue and Forbus streets at around 1 a.m.

A short time later, authorities were told a 23-year-old checked himself into a hospital. He underwent surgery and is expected to recover.

In a separate incident, a man was stabbed Friday evening on Main Street in Poughkeepsie. Police say the victim sustained multiple stab and slash wounds. The victim is expected to recover.

Anyone with information is urged to contact police.
