A well-known downtown coffee spot on the East End has served up its last cups of joe.
Mugs on Main in Riverhead announced that Wednesday would be their final day in business, citing problems with the building.
The owners of the popular shop shared the news to social media on Friday, alerting patrons of their remaining few days to come pay a visit.
“It is with a sad and heavy heart to announce that we are closing Mugs on Main,” the Instagram post read.
“We’ve been plagued with ongoing facility issues and flooding since opening our doors and we can’t afford to continue to fix the problems,” the message continued.
The beloved local café, open since 2023, offered more than just coffee, with a full menu of morning and afternoon food options, as well.
The owners are encouraging customers to head to their second location, still in operation, Mugs at Schmidt’s in Quogue, which recently launched in June.
