It is the end of an era for a Long Island diner that have been serving up favorites for decades.
The final orders are coming up at the Plainview Diner, as it gets set to close its doors after 50 years. The iconic restaurant opened in 1972. Karen Murphy has been working there for 35 years.
"I didn't cry yet so I'm trying not to," she said.
The diner has been a second home for her and her customers, many of whom have brought generations of family members to eat. Now that its owner has decided to retire, the diner is added to a growing list of long Island icons to be placed in the history books.
Diners have until Sept. 25 to enjoy one last meal before the lights get turned off at the Plainview Diner.
