People looking to use the Ponquogue Bridge in Hampton Bays will need to wait at least a few more days.
State engineers were back on site Monday, once again inspecting sections of the bridge where deteriorating concrete was found during a routine inspection last Thursday.
Drivers and pedestrians are being asked to use alternate routes. The closest to the west is a much smaller bridge in Quogue.
However, local businesses and fisherman on the south side of the bridge are concerned that if it doesn't open soon, they'll not only have a longer commute, but also miss out on business as the busy season approaches.
Town officials tell News 12 they are awaiting a report from NYS DOT this week, which will determine if the bridge can open, even in a partial capacity.
