A woman was injured after being assaulted at the Roosevelt Field Mall in Garden City on Monday.
According to police, the 20-year-old victim was walking on the second floor of the mall and was struck in the face by a male.
Police say the victim saw a knife in the subject's hand before he fled the scene.
The victim suffered a large laceration to her left cheek and was transported to a hospital for treatment.
Police say the attack was targeted, but they aren't releasing any other information about the incident at this time. No arrests have been made.
This is the latest in a string of recent crimes at the mall that are making some shoppers think twice about going there.
"That kind of scares you and makes you not want to go there anymore," says Ben Grunfeld, of Queens.
Detectives request anyone with information to contact Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS.
Nassau County police say they have increased and intensified police presence at the mall.
