A woman was raped in her Mastic Beach home during a break-in, police say.
In surveillance video, two suspects can be seen entering the woman's home around 4 p.m. Tuesday.
"While conducting the burglary, one of the individuals attacked one of the people inside the residence, raping her," says Suffolk Police Commissioner Rodney Harrison.
Dennis Naughton tells News 12 that he and another person helped the victim after the attack.
"She was bleeding from her head and her chest," Naughton says. "So, I brought her on the deck and got some towels and called 911."
The victim was transported to the hospital with injuries not believed to be life-threatening.
Both men ran off with cash and some of the woman's belongings.
The suspects are described as Black males in their late teens or early 20s.
Harrison would not say if the incident was targeted or not.
One neighbor told News 12 that they were not surprised by the incident and that it has "never really been a nice neighborhood."
